TALIN LYMAN Born 1962, lives and works in Boynton Beach, Florida, USA The soft airs of the tropical evening wafting across an ocean of warm waters resonate deeply within Talin Lyman’s soul. The artist transforms her love and appreciation of the tropics into warm, vivid paintings, murals and fabrics. Her paintings are a result of her exotic upbringing, visiting other countries and tropical islands with her creative family; her father is a musician and her mother a decorator and gardener. This is no surprise that the many facets of nature became a constant theme in her works. Lyman’s naturalistic artworks are vibrant with deep lush colours of the tropical foliage and flora, which invite one into a sense of serenity. The tropical scenes lure the viewer to step in and “breathe in” the peace and pleasure of nature. All of this being said, Lyman has taken a turn for a different kind of painting in her new collection. These paintings are a result of years of experimentation and study. “Varietals” collection is created solely using the varietals of red wine. Layers upon layers of Cabernet, Merlot, Bordeaux, Pinot Noir, Malbec and Red Zinfandel wines are meticulously painted onto French Archival Watercolour Paper, creating a rich and elegant work of art. Wine paintings take on a unique patina, and exhibit a chiaroscuro effect but with a contemporary twist. “There is an intense and audacious quality and beauty of tropical plant life, oceans, beaches and skies,” says the artist. “I believe that beauty brings about changes in our mood, health and spirituality. Observing beauty creates harmony. Creating beauty is almost a sacred duty.” Lyman’s internationally acclaimed works have been featured in publications such as Architectural Digest, Coastal Living, Veranda, and Florida Design Magazines, as well as in international design centers and luxury hotels. In addition her designs were featured on the Martha Stewart show, ET Hollywood and this September 2019, she was chosen to be the artist in residence in Tel Aviv Israel.
